The Book of Bennet
Wednesday April 9, 2008
Do you know anyone who has supernatural abilities? Anyone who seems to have a sixth sense? I have known a few (Master among them). I have come to the conclusion, however, that I am not gifted in that area.
I have never seen a ghost. My mother passed away several years ago. Now, I know my mother loved me and would do anything to help me. I suspect she has done so since her passing. But have I been able to feel it or sense it? Not at all. I am still a believer. I believe those things can happen, do happen. I just cannot feel it myself.
The closest I ever came was in 1990. My husband (now ex), son and I were staying in my aunt’s basement as we were between houses. I had the feeling my uncle, who had passed away in ’81, disapproved and was worried that we would take advantage of my aunt. My son (3 at the time) even seemed to see him, saying, “Who’s that man?” I, of course, saw nothing. When I questioned him, my son lost interest, as three year olds will. I assumed that my uncle had appeared to him but disappeared, so my son no longer cared. At one point, when I was so uncomfortable I couldn’t take it anymore, I said aloud, “We are not here to take advantage of L-. We will be leaving at the end of the month. We aren’t staying.” After that, my uncomfortable feeling seemed to go away. I think my uncle believed me. If we hadn’t left, though, I wouldn’t have been surprised if he had come back!
Although Master is far away, he says he often feels me with him. Although I occasionally feel his presence as well, I don’t think it comes as easily to me as it does to him. So, are there lessons in psychic abilities?

Yesterday I wrote about reading and how what a person reads tells a lot about that person. What does what I read say about me?
My favorite author (besides Master, of course) is Dean Koontz. Some of his work has been described as “out there”. It is true that his fiction deals with themes and ideas that are not in the mainstream. The fact that I like to read those books, I think, says that I am willing to consider those possibilities. Many fanciful, unbelievable things happen in his stories, yet I am able to go along with it. I do not totally discount the potential for a grain of truth in even the weirdest things.
Dean Koontz’s books also tend to end on a happy note. I like that. I read to be entertained, and I like the “happily ever after” feeling in his books. I am not gullible enough to believe that real life ever turns out that way. The only time one can consider one’s trials and tribulations to be over is when one dies! But stories, at least, should end on a positive note. That’s my opinion, anyway. That, by the way, is why I don’t like John Saul’s books. They usually end with the sense that the whole mess will (or at least could) start all over again. It is never finished.
So, Master, I know you are aware of what I like to read. What do you think it says about me?

Master says he is bringing some books he wants me to read. I am not sure the content, although I don’t think it is bdsm. Master said that by reading the books he enjoys, I learn more about him. And he is right, of course.
One of Master’s favorite books is Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. After I read it, I told him I understood why he liked it so much. A major theme was that you should enjoy your life as it is, rather than wishing it were something else. There are good things about all ages and all stages of life. We miss out on them when we spend our time wishing for something else.
I look forward to reading Master’s favorites and learning more about him.

It seems I have been doing a lot of that. I’m not talking about the work at either of my jobs. I’m talking about arranging Master’s visit.
Running down the flights for him, talking on the phone with people on hotels, it seems like it’s taken a lot of time! Maybe I’m just not into that sort of work. Maybe I’m just afraid I’ll forget to ask for something Master has requested. I do not wish to disappoint him!
I think of this in service to my Master. He wishes for me to take care of the details, and I do. Besides, this whole trip was my idea. It’s only right that I make the arrangements.
And, as always, Master is right. He talked to me several times about making reservations far in advance. One of the times we will need a hotel is Father’s Day weekend. So, I promised him I would take care of it this weekend, and I have. But, as usual, he was right. I had no problem getting reservations, but I saw via the Internet that several hotels were sold out and unavailable for the dates we needed. “Don’t wait!” he said.
Now the real work will begin. In addition to cleaning, I will be rearranging some things in the house before he comes. There were be some scrubbing, some throwing away, some buying new (okay, not “new” new, most likely “Goodwill” new) some moving around. Let the work begin!

I know the world’s biggest kid. He gets excited over the release of a new DVD. He will plan his days around it.
Right now, he is as excited as a youngest gets over Christmastime. He is looking forward to a big event. Not a DVD or a new toy. ME. The world’s biggest kid is my Master. Every time we talk, he talks about the upcoming trip and what we have planned. I can hear his excitement. He has always thought about some new aspect for the trip.
His mind is focused on this event. I am glad he is. I hope I am “up to the task” of providing him with a wonderful experience. I believe that I am.
As he says, he just wants to spend time with me.
